DECR Chairman expresses condolences to His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland with the tragic death of the Orthodox Ordinary of the Polish Army Archbishop Miron of Hainówka
Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, expressed his condolences to the Primate of the Polish Orthodox Church with the tragic death of the Orthodox Ordinary of the Polish Army Archbishop Miron of Hainówka.
To His Beatitude Sawa,
Metropolitan of Warsaw and All Poland
Your Beatitude:
Christ is risen!
Please accept my profound and sincere condolences with the tragic death of your beloved son and my dear brother Archbishop Miron of Hainówka, the Orthodox Ordinary of the Polish Army.
Quite recently, during Holy Lent, Archbishop Miron visited Moscow to share his experience of work with army chaplains with his colleagues from the Synodal Department for Relations with the Armed Forces. We heard many kind words from the archpastor and shared the joy of praying together on Sunday of St. John Climacus when he concelebrated the Divine Liturgy with His Holiness Patriarch Kirill at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in St. Daniels’ Monastery. No one thought that it would be our last meeting.
The Lord Jesus Christ has called to Himself His zealous archpastor who had served the Polish Orthodox Church in one of the most important fields of her missionary activities. The departed for eternity archpastor ‘has finished the race and has kept the faith” (cf. 2 Tim. 4:7). We believe that the Bright Week days have become the gates to blissful rest for him. Memory eternal to him!
With respectful love in the Lord,
+ Hilarion
Metropolitan of Volokolamsk
