After the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Annunciation on April 11, 2010, a grand reception was given on behalf of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria on the occasion of the visit by the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

In a solemn ceremony at the Throne Hall, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia was awarded the Grand Cross of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Mark.

Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, was awarded the Star of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Mark.

Awards were also granted to other members of the Moscow Patriarchate delegation.

Present at the reception were bishops of the Orthodox Church of Alexandria, the delegation led by Patriarch Kirill and honorary guests including Russian Ambassador to Egypt M. Bogdanov, Greek Charge des Affaires Dimitrios Zevelakis, Ambassador of Cyprus to Egypt Costas Leontiou, and Greek Consul General George Diakofotakis.
