A round-table conference on the Russian Language as Part of the Russian World and World Culture has opened on 26 March 2010 at Dubai, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. It is organized by the Association of Russian Compatriots in the UAE, the Russian Embassy in the UAE and the Moscow Patriarchate Parish of St. Philip in the UAE.

It is attended by representatives of the Russian diaspora in the UAE and teachers at private Russian schools in Dubai and Sharjah. The Russian Orthodox Church is represented by Hegumen Alexander Zarkeshev, rector of the Parish of St. Philip, who is also chairman of the Association of Russian Compatriots in the UAE.

The aim of the conference is to promote the Russian language as an important part of Russian and world culture and to implement the recommendations of the 3d World Congress of Compatriots.

The round-table conference is called to help fulfill the tasks of supporting the Russian language and culture in the UAE and strengthening humanitarian contacts. The event is aimed to develop people’s interest in studying Russian, to encourage its study in Arab countries and to help people who are interested in the cultural and spiritual life of the Russian World.
