Patriarchal congratulations to Ms. Victor Yanukovich on his election as President of Ukraine

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has sent the following congratulatory message to Mr. Victor Yanukovich, leader of the Regions’ Party, on the occasion of his victory in the Ukrainian presidential elections:

I cordially congratulate you on your victory in the presidential elections. People’s confidence calls you to great responsibility before God, the people and history. You have an experience and gifts necessary to justify this confidence, and now you will need to exert all your energy to resolve problems facing the Ukrainian people and to lead them to a dignified and prosperous life.
