Metropolitan Hilarion meets with French Catholic Archbishop

On 4 February 2010, at the Moscow Patriarchate Department for external church relations, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk received Monsignor Maurice Gardes, archbishop of Auch, France, president of the National Council for Christian Unity and Relations with Judaism, currently in Russia on a private visit.

They spoke in French, discussing possible ways of the development of good relations that are being shaped between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church of France. The necessity of cooperation in advocating Christian values before modern secular society was emphasized.

Taking part in the meeting was archpriest Igor Vyzhanov, DECR secretary for Inter-Christian relations.
