Children celebrate Christmas at the Church of St. John of Kronstadt in Hamburg
On 10 January 2010, a Christmas party for children took place at the Church of St. John of Kronstadt in Hamburg.
According to the Very Revd. Sergei Baburin, rector of the church, the party began with prayers in the church, after which young parishioners presented poetry and musical compositions.
The ‘Skomorokhs’ Sloboda’ folklore ensemble arrived in Hamburg from Sergiev Posad to take part in the party. The musicians introduced children to the Russian popular traditions of celebrating Christmas and lead them and their parents in the national musical games, such as “Golden Gate,” “Kurilka,” “Valenok,” and “Quadrille.”
350 children who attended the party received Christmas gifts.
