Primate of the Orthodox Church in America completes his visit to Moscow
His Beatitude Jonah, Archbishop of Washington and Metropolitan of All America and Canada, completed his visit to Moscow on December 9, 2009.
His Beatitude arrived in Moscow on December 5 on the invitation of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia for the celebrations to mark the 15th anniversary of the Orthodox Church in America Representation in Moscow.
On December 7, the Day of the Holy Protomartyr Catherine, Patriarch Kirill and Metropolitan Jonah celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. Catherine’s Church and had a talk after the service.
On December 9, the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America left for the USA. He was seen off at the airport by Bishop Alexander of Dmitrov and Archimandrite Zacchaeus (Wood), representative of the Orthodox Church in America to the Moscow Patriarchate, as well as clergy of St. Catherine’s and staff members of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations.
Before his departure, Metropolitan Jonah presented Archimandrite Zacchaeus with silver vessels for the liturgical use by St. Catherine’s Church, the Moscow Representation of the Orthodox Church in America has reported.
