Victims of mass starvation in 1930s in USSR and those who died in Neva Express crash commemorated in Damascus
The Office for the Dead was said on Nov. 29 at the Church of St. Ignatius the God-Bearer in the Moscow Patriarchate’s Representation to the Patriarch of Antioch in Damascus to commemorate victims of the mass starvation in the 1930s in the USSR.
After the service, Archimandrite Alexander Yelisov, representative of the Patriarch of Moscow to the Patriarch of Antioch read out a homily delivered by Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All Ukraine on Nov. 28 in Kiev.
The congregation also commemorated those who died in the Neva Express railway crash en route from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
