Representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia at the Patriarch of Antioch becomes an honourary member of ‘Russian Cultural Community of Lebanon’ Association
On 14 November 2009, a constitutional convention of the “Russian Cultural Community of Lebanon” took place in Beirut. The constituent group includes the Lebanese citizens of Russian origin linked with the Russian cultural traditions. Present at the meeting were members of the Parliament, representatives of public circles, Ambassadors of Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan, and the Consul of Armenia.
Press service of the Representation of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia at the Patriarch of Antioch report that one of the objectives of the community is support and assistance to Russian diaspora in Lebanon in exercising human rights and freedoms, including the right to express, maintain and develo0 their identity, cultural heritage, and language, as well as their spiritual and intellectual potential. The “Russian Cultural Community of Lebanon” has completed its state registration and got an official status.
The representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia at the Patriarch of Antioch, archimandrite Alexander (Yelisov) has become an honourary member of the Association.
