Prof. Firsov of St. Petersburg University to read lectures at church post-graduate school

Prof. Sergey L. Firsov, PhD, St. Petersburg State University, author of numerous studies into the history of the Russian Orthodox Church, will read lectures, at the Church Post-Graduate and Doctoral School, on November 11 and 12, 2009.

His first lecture will be devoted to the relationships between the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II and St. John of Kronstadt to mark the saint’s 180^th birthday.

His second lecture will deal with the marginalization of conscience in the life of the Orthodox Church in the 20^th-early 21^st century. In addition, the professor will explain his own vision of prospects for the development of church scholarship.
