Primate of the Orthodox Church of Antioch meets with Archbishop Alexy of Orekhovo-Zuevo
On 16 October 2009, His Beatitude Patriarch Ignatius IV of the Great Antioch and All the East received in audience Archbishop Alexy of Orekhovo-Zuevo who arrived in Damascus with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russian to take part in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the ordained ministry of Archbishop Nifon of Philippolis, representative of the Orthodox Church of Antioch at the Moscow Patriarchate. Archbishop Alexy was accompanied by archimandrite Alexander (Yelisov), representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia at the Patriarch of Antioch.
“Our relations with the Russian Orthodox Church are of a special historical nature. We highly appreciate them and maintain them through our representatives in Moscow and Damascus,’ said the Primate of the Church of Antioch.
