The New Primate of the Orthodox Church in America will pay an official visit to the Russian Orthodox Church
On Bright Saturday, 25 April 2009, a delegation of the Orthodox Church in America led by His Beatitude Archbishop Jonah of Washington and New York and Metropolitan of All America and Canada will arrive in Moscow with an official visit to the Russian Orthodox Church with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
The visit will last till May 4 and will include the meeting with His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, joint celebration of the Divine Liturgy by the Primates of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox Church in America at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour on the St. Thomas Sunday and at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Assumption at the Moscow Kremlin on the Sunday of the Holy Myrrh-bearing Women, visits to the holy places of Moscow, the Laura of the Holy Trinity and St. Sergius, and the Valaam stavropegic monastery of the Transfiguration of the Saviour.
Accompanying His Beatitude Metropolitan Jonah will be archbishop Seraphim of Ottawa and Canada; rector of the Moscow representation of the Orthodox Church in America archimandrite Zacchaeus (Wood); archpriest Alexander Garklavs; archpriest Leonid Kishkovsky; protodeacon Kirill Sokolov; and monk Gregory (Stevens).
