Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, sent a message of greetings to Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and All Japan on his Name Day. The text of the letter is given below.

Your Eminence,

Dear Vladyka:

Please accept my heartfelt greetings with your Name Day.

Gaining strength in the prayerful intercession of your heavenly patron, Right-Believing Prince Daniel of Moscow, you perform with meekness and humility your lofty ministry as the head of the Japanese Autonomous Orthodox Church “in all godliness and honesty” (1 Tim 2:2) and zealously preach the Gospel of Christ in the Land of the Rising Sun, proclaiming to those near and far “the words of eternal life” (Jn 6:68).

Dear in the Lord Vladyka Daniel, I sincerely wish you God’s unceasing help in your labours for the good of Orthodoxy, as well as peace, joy and every blessing from God. May the All-Generous Creator grant you spiritual and bodily strength for continuing to fruitfully serve in His vineyard.

With brotherly love in the Lord,

  /+Hilarion/

Metropolitan of Volokolamsk
