His Holiness the Patriarch attends the opening of the Easter in Russia exhibition at New Manezh

On April 27, 2006, His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia attended the opening of the Easter in Russia exhibition to be held from April 28 to May 14, 2006 at the New Manezh city exhibition hall in Moscow.

The opening was also attended by Metropolitan Clement of Kaluga and Borovsk, Chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate, Archimandrite Alexiy Polikarpov, father superior St. Daniel’s Monastery, and S. Khudyakov, chairman of the Moscow government committee for culture.

The Easter in Russian exhibition was organized by the Moscow city committee for culture, St. Daniel’s Monastery, and the New Manezh exhibition hall.

On display are articles from the collections of the Russian State Archives, State Museum of History, Vologda State Museum of History, Architecture and Arts, Patriarchal collection of Easter gifts, the museum of St. Daniel’s Monastery, the Museum of the History of Moscow, Tula Museum of Fines Arts, etc.

Among the exhibits are Easter drawings and postcards executed by the children of Emperor Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra, who are ranked among saints, church art works, historical documents, and photographs reflecting the present life of the Russian Orthodox Church.
