Patriarch Abuna Paul of the Ethiopian Church died on August 16, 2012, in Addis Ababa. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia sent the following message of condolences to the Synod of the Ethiopian Church:<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n To: the Holy Synod of the Church of Ethiopia<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I was grieved to learn about the demise of His Holiness Abuna Paul who has headed the Church of Ethiopia for twenty years. <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n His Holiness was a highly gifted and comprehensively and deeply educated man. He exerted much effort to revive the Ethiopian Church, to improve the theological education and to develop church charitable work.
