It has been organized by Qatar\u2019s Foreign Ministry and the International Center for International Dialogue in Doha. This year the conference is held under the theme \u2018Social Networks and Interreligious Dialogue: New Relations\u2019.<\/p>\n
Among Local Orthodox Churches present at the conference are the Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Moscow Patriarchate represented by Deacon Dimitry Safonov of the DECR. Assembled for the forum are about 200 representatives of Christianity, Islam and Judaism from 55 countries.<\/p>\n
The conference was opened by Prof. Ibrahim Saleh Alnaimi, head of the International Center for the Dialogue of Religions in Doha. Among the speakers at the first plenary session was Qatar\u2019s Minister of Justice Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanim.<\/p>\n
The conference will consider the themes: \u2018The danger of communication technologies\u2019, Science and religion\u2019, \u2018Optimal use of communication technologies\u2019 and \u2018Advantages of the use of social networks in interreligious dialogue\u2019. The conference will divide into subgroups to work on specific problems involved in the use of social networks. The conference will conclude its work on October 26.<\/p>\n
During the conference, Deacon Dimitry Safonov met with the Russian Embassy minister-counsellor in Qatar D. Trofimov. They discussed the Church\u2019s participation in international events held in Qatar and other matters of mutual concern.<\/p>\n
