<\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\nSeptember 22, 2017 \u2013 Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations (DECR) presented the English version of the book by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia entitled \u2018The Mystery of Repentance\u2019, at the residence of the Russian ambassador to Great Britain.<\/p>\n
Among the attendees were Russian Ambassador to Great Britain A. Yakovenko, Archbishop Gregorios of Thyateira and Great Britain (Patriarchate of Constantinople), Metropolitan Kallistos of Diocleia (Patriarchate of Constantinople), Archbishop Yelisey of Sourozh; Bishop Angelos, head of the British diocese of the Coptic Church; Metropolitan Mor Athanasius Dakkama (Syriac Jacobite Church), Archbishop Joseph Adams, Apostolic Nuncio to Great Britain; Bishop Jonathan Goodall of Ebbsfleet; Local Orthodox Churches clergy, representatives of the public and scientific, cultural and business circles.<\/p>\n
Opening the presentation, Metropolitan Hilarion noted that the book by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill \u2018The Mystery of Repentance\u201d has been published in English for the first time. It contains the Patriarch\u2019s sermons on the Four Gospels and the Passion Week. \u2018His Holiness Patriarch Kirill is an outstanding master of the spoken word. In these sermons he never repeats himself as the subject is expounded anew in each of it\u2019, His Eminence pointed out.<\/p>\n
\u2018In this book, His Holiness the Patriarch expounds the Church\u2019s teaching on spiritual struggle, which the Orthodox faithful wage during their lifetime, especially during Lent. I am sure that the book will be of benefit to all readers\u2019, the metropolitan stressed.<\/p>\n
The English translation of the book was made by Archpriest Christopher Hill, published by the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate with the support of the St. Gregory the Theologian Charity, and the Russian World Foundation.<\/p>\n
In conclusion of the presentation, Metropolitan Hilarion expressed special gratitude to all who participated in the publication of this book.<\/p>\n
After the presentation, there was a reception in honour of the participants.<\/p>\n
