Bishop Mercurius of Zaraysk, Administrator of the patriarchal parishes in the USA, congratulates His Beatitude Herman, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, on his birthday

BISHOP MERCURIUS OF ZARAYSK, ADMINISTRATOR OF THE PATRIARCHAL PARISHES IN THE USA, CONGRATULATES HIS BEATITUDE HERMAN, METROPOLITAN OF ALL AMERICA AND CANADA, ON HIS BIRTHDAY

On February 1, 2003, a celebration marking the birthday of His Beatitude Herman was held at the residence of the Metropolitan of All America and Canada in Syosset, following a vigil service on the eve of the Feast of the Meeting of the Lord according to the New Calender.

Bishop Mercurius of Zaraysk, Administrator of the patriarchal parishes in the USA, greeted His Beatitude on behalf of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia, Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, DECR chairman, and the Moscow Patriarchate Representation in the USA. He presented Metropolitan Herman with an icon of the Savior and a bunch of flowers.

Addressing His Beatitude, Bishop Mercurius thanked him for his paternal attention to the work of the Moscow Patriarchate Representation in the USA and for his tenderness to the needs of Russian Orthodox people living in America.

In his response, His Beatitude Metropolitan Herman congratulated Bishop Mercurius on the coming anniversary of his episcopal consecration and thanked him for his great efforts aimed at extending and intensifying relations between the Orthodox Churches in Russian and America.
