A PRAYER SERVICE WILL BE CONDUCTED AT THE CHURCH OF THE LIFE-GIVING TRINITY IN KHOROSHEVO ON 1 DECEMBER 2002, THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF OVERCOMING AIDS

A prayer service for the health of the AIDS/HIV infected people and their relatives will be conducted at the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Khoroshevo on 1 December 2002, the International Day of Overcoming AIDS.

The service begins at 12.00 a.m. After it a meeting will be held on the Russian Orthodox Church’s participation in prevention and overcoming AIDS spreading and on the prospects of cooperation between the Moscow Patriarchate and the organizations dealing with these problems.

The meeting is arranged by the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate. Taking part in the meeting will be clergymen and laymen of the Russian Orthodox Church, who work in the field of preventing and fighting against AIDS/HIV, representatives of the Russian Health Ministry, and of the Ministerial Scientific and Methodical Center on AIDS Prevention and Elimination, UNAIDS, UNICEF, UN Agency on Drug Control and Delinquency Prevention, and staff members of various state and public organizations.
