Archbishop Clement of Kaluga and Borovsk presented patriarchal awards on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Trud newspaper

ARCHBISHOP CLEMENT OF KALUGA AND BOROVSK PRESENTED PATRIARCHAL AWARDS ON THE OCCASION OF THE 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TRUD NEWSPAPER
A grand meeting to mark the 80th anniversary of Trud took place on February 19 at the Column Hall in Moscow. Among honorary guests were: Russia’s Security Council secretary S.Ivanov, Constitutional Court chairman M.Baglai, General Staff first deputy chief Gen. Col. V.Manilov, president of the International Association of Peace Funds A.Karpov and other officials, as well as prominent scientists, artists and businessmen.
Archbishop Clement, vice-chairman of Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, read out messages from His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia and Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, chairman of the DECR, to the newspaper’s editorial staff and readers (the texts are given below).
His Eminence Clement presented the newspaper’s editor-in-chief A. Potapov with the Russian Orthodox Church’s Order of the Holy Prince Daniel of Moscow, 3d degree, and the author of the Icon-Lamp column A. Korolev with a Patriarchal Diploma in recognition of their hard work for promoting Christian spiritual and moral values in society.
Present at the meeting was also the head of the DECR communication service, V.Malukhin.
