First week of Lent Services celebrated in Red Fanza of Russian Federation Embassy to Chinese People’s Republic

Fr. Alexiy Kiselevich has been celebrating cervices in the Red fanza of the Russian Federation Embassy to Chinese People’s Republic during the first week of the Lent. The cervices were celebrated in the Red fanza because there is still no church in Beijing.

19-22 February the Canon of St. Andrew of Crete was read during the evening services. The employees of the Embassy and Orthodox believers living in Beijing attended the cervices. Due to the celebration of Chinese New Year everyone could hear constant explosions of petards and crackers.

On Tuesday Fr. Alexiy conducted classes of the Sunday school for adults and after that he answered questions concerning the meaning of the Lent for a believer.

On Friday evening Fr. Alexiy confessed the believers. On Saturday the Divine Liturgy was celebrated and over sixty children received communion. Fr. Alexiy also baptized two children of Russian Federation Embassy employees.

On Saturday believers were gifted children’s Bibles which was followed by a tea party.

In the Orthodox community of Beijing the collection of charitable aid for an Orphanage in the Moscow region was launched.
