Frescos from Kosovo Orthodox Churched Exhibited in New York

An exhibition of frescos from Kosovo and Metohija Orthodox churches and monasteries was held in St Savva’s Serbian Orthodox parish in New York on 8 to 9 July 2006. The frescos were copied by students of the Academy of Arts and Restoration of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

That was one of the series of charitable exhibitions organised by the Academy students. Before that the exposition was presented in Belgrade, Munich, and Boston.

Father Dћokan Majstoroviи, the rector of St Savva’s, led the opening ceremony. Father Dћokan underlined the missionary work of the Academy’s students and teachers saying the exhibition helps the people from other countries to get acquainted with Kosovo and Metohija’s rich historical and cultural heritage.

On the day the exhibition was closed, 9 July, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in St Savva’s, which was attended by Prince Michael Karaрorрeviи, the ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN Miloљ Prica, Serbian consul in New York Vladimir Ћutiи, the organizers and visitors.

Afterwards, the Academy of Art’s delegation visited Harvard University in Boston, St Vladimir’s Academy in New York, and St Tikhon monastery in Pennsylvania.
