Metropolitan Kirill meets with the President of the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences

On 20 June 2006, Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad met with Monsignor Walter Brandmuller, President of the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences.

Questions of cooperation between the Russian Orthodox and the Roman Catholic Churches in protecting and affirming Christian values were discussed. As a positive example, Metropolitan Kirill mentioned an International Conference ‘Give a Soul to Europe. Mission and Responsibility of Churches’ held in Vienna, Austria, on 3-5 May 2006. Mons. W. Brandmuller highly appreciated the results of the Orthodox-Catholic Forum and proposed to hold an international conference on ‘Christianity, Culture and Moral Values’ in 2007.
