Robber of icons is detained in Tver region

Tver militiamen found and detained a criminal, who stole icons from an Orthodox church of the 18^th century.

It was reported by Col. Gennady Pereverzev, head of the Information and Public Relations Department, Tver region. The incident happened on January 20 at night. Unknown criminal stole six icons from the Church of the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God in the village of Novy Stan, Likhoslavl district, Tver region. The damage totals to 55 thousand rubles. Militiamen of Tver region and neighboring regions were set off for searching the criminals. A young man, 18, who committed the robbery, was detained and placed in a cell. Officials try to find out if he committed other similar crimes.
