The copy of the icon ‘Chernobyl Savior’ was made by iconographers from the Zadonsk Monastery of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin on the request of Lipetsk liquidators of the Chernobyl accident. The ‘Lipetsk-Infocenter’ Information Agency reports that it is delivered to the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in Lipetsk.
Chairman of the Regional Department of the ‘Chernobyl to Russia’ Union Mikhail Barvinsky says that the original icon is in the Laura of the Caves in Kiev and the copy was made to commemorate the tragedy happened 20 years ago. The commemoration ceremony will be held in April 2006.
‘The icon will be brought out of the church on the day of the tragedy. Participants of the opening ceremony of the monument to liquidators will pray before it’, M. Barvinsky tells.
