Head of the Russian State signs decree on Organizational Arrangements with Regard to the Demise of Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed on December 7, 2008, a Decree on Organizational Arrangements with Regard to the Demise of Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia. The full text of the document has been published by the Presidential press service:

“Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia died suddenly on December 5, 2008.

Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia will always stay in the memory of the Russian people as an outstanding humanitarian leader who has made a great contribution to the strengthening of peace and accord between nations and to the restoration of the historical and cultural heritage of Russia.

Expressing sorrow over the demise of Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia, I resolve:

1) that the cultural institutions and television and radio companies be proposed to cancel entertainment events and programs on Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia’s funeral day;

2) that the Russian Federation Government and governmental bodies in Moscow give assistance to the Moscow Patriarchate in holding the funeral of Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia;

3) that Russian nation-wide television and radio broadcasting organizations ensure the coverage of the parting with Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia.
