Metropolitan Kirill meets His Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople

The Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad paid a working visit to Istanbul on September 30-Octover 1, 2008. On October 1 he had a talk with the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Constantinople in the Patriarch’s residence on Phanar. Discussed were the issues of Orthodox unity and bilateral relations as well as the themes related to the meeting of the Primates of the Local Orthodox Churches to be held in Istanbul on October 10-12.

Taking part in the talks held in the warm and friendly atmosphere were Metropolitan Emmanuel of France and the General Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Constatin0ople archiomandrite Elpidiphoros (Lambriniadis).
