A round table on the destruction of traditional notions of family and sex relations took place in the Pilgrim Centre of the Moscow Patriarchate on 19 of June, timed to the visit of the American psychologist and sex researcher Dr. Paul Cameron to Russia at the invitation of the Russian Orthodox Church. Dr. Cameron, a recognized authority in questions of family and sexual deviations, has worked in this field over 40 years. His assistance as an expert was sought by the Government of Canada, in Texas, Massachusetts, Utah and Colorado, as well as in the city of Houston.
In his introductory word Dr. Cameron told the audience about the destructive consequences of homosexual relations in society. His clinical researches show that homosexuality has no root in genetic characteristics of human beings but is acquired. Dr. Cameron thinks that homosexuality attracts many people as they do not want the burden of family and upbringing of children. Dr. Cameron said that people use goods ‘produced by the children of other people.’ According to his data homosexuals consume more from society than give to it. At the same time society has to spend a lot to treat homosexuals for venereal diseases such as AIDS, syphilis, gonorrhoea as these are more spread among them than among heterosexuals. According to statistics this happens because homosexuals change their partners very often.
Dr. Cameron studied crime statistics and found that homosexuals violate children much more often than heterosexuals. It also concern sexual violation in families and schools.
His researches show that homosexuals have shorter life and to narcotics and alcohol.
Dr. Cameron said that many people in the West did not heed to the statistics and continued to claim privileges for sexual minorities while the gay lib is destructive for society.
Active discussion followed in which were representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Union of Orthodox citizens, Russian Pentecostals, St. Tikhon’s Orthodox University, and journalists took part.
Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, the deputy chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of Moscow Patriarchate, summed up the discussion, saying that the scientific and empirical data of Dr. Cameron and other researches confirm the falsity of the thesis that freedom without morality could bring happiness to a person and welfare to society.
