President Medvedev to give grants for national cultural revival

President Medvedev signed on 16 May a decree ‘On Granting Presidential Grants for National Creative Projects in Culture and Arts’. The document provides for allocating funds to one hundred leaders of projects aimed to revive national culture, the official Presidential site has reported.

Grants have been given to T. Vinnichenko for compiling a multimedia archive of the 17^th-18^th monastic manuscripts found in the Russian North; Ms. Guryanova for compiling an e-catalogue of churches in Vyatka and an e-collection of the 17^th-19^th century documents about Vyatka churches; Ms. Melnikova for a project intended to count and examine decaying churches – monuments of Russian architecture and history in the regions of Moscow, Tver and Yaroslavl; S. Strelnikov for compiling a catalogue of contribution books of the 15^th-18^th Russian monasteries; A. Utkin for a project intended to revive the bell chimes of the Valamo Monastery.
