Russian Security Council delegation visits Russian Orthodox Mission in Jerusalem

A delegation of the Russian Security Council led by V. Sobolev, Council’s acting secretary, visited the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem on January 23, 2008.

At the Church of the Holy Martyr Empress Alexander, the delegation was welcomed by the head of the Mission, Archimandrite Tikhon Zaitsev. He introduced the delegation to the history of the Russian presence in the Holy Land and the life of the Mission in Jerusalem, the Mission’s press service has reported.

During the talk that continued over tea, they discussed the transfer to the Mission of the property, which belonged to it historically, and an increase in the number of pilgrims from Russia to be stimulated by the bilateral cancellation of visas planned to take place in the nearest months.

In conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Sobolev signed the Mission’s book for honorary guests.
