News in the Orthodox book publishing – a Russian TV project

Website of the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church reports that on 19 January 2007 ‘Blagovest-TV’ TV channel began to show ‘Orthodox Book Review’ weekly programme about new books on history and for children, fiction, as well as theological and liturgical literature.

The programme has been prepared by the Publishing Council in cooperation with ‘Church Herald’ newspaper.

The programme’s producer Sergei Chapnin says, ‘Orthodox Book Review’ is the first on TV about modern Orthodox literature. At present the Orthodox book publishing is enjoying its ‘golden age’ as the circulation is growing along with the product proposal and quality. However, it is rather difficult to take bearings as the new books are concerned.

The new programme by Sergei Chapnin and Denis Kovtun shall help the readers. See it on Saturdays at 08.40 p.m.
