Requiem service celebrated at the memorial chapel to mark the 130th anniversary of the Russian victory at Plevna

On 10 December 2007 in Moscow with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia, Archbishop Alexei of Orekhovo-Zuevo celebrated requiem service at the chapel built in the memory of grenadiers to mark the Russian victory at Plevna.

Members of several Orthodox youth movements of the capital city gathered at the memorial chapel. Military honours were paid to the heroes followed by requiem service.

The victory at Plevna was a decisive one in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78.
