Metropolitan Kirill meets hierarchs of the Georgian Orthodox Church

On 10 December 2007, the Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for external church relations Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad met at the premises of the Department the hierarchs of the Georgian Orthodox Church Metropolitan Nikolosi of Akhalkalaki and Kumurdo, Bishop Stefane of Tsageri and Lentechi and Bishop Sio of Senaki and Tskhorotskhu.

Taking part in the meeting was the DECR secretary to interorthodox relations the Very Rev. Nikolai Balashov. Discussed were relations between the people of Russia and Georgia and the development of various kind of cooperation between the Russian and Georgian Orthodox Church.

Earlier the Georgian hierarchs participated in the events held on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Orthodox St Tikhon University of Humanities.

On December 4, the Feats of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple, Metropolitan Nikolosi of Akhalkalaki and Kumurdo was among those concelebrating with His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia at the Divine Liturgy in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Assumption in the Kremlin.
