Belarusian clergy to assist doctors in rehabilitation of drug addicts

Belarusian doctors and clergy of the Belarusian Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church in Gomel held a roundtable on drug addict rehabilitation on 6 December 2007.

The Orthodox parishes have great experience in drug addict rehabilitation. The clerics are interested to broad up their work and are ready to assist the medics if necessary, BelTA agency reports.

The roundtable was initiated by the Crisis Center attached to the Gomel Narcological Hospital and the Diocese of Gomel. The meeting established a joint working group mandated to draft an agenda of cooperation between the narcologists and the church. Also, they decided to include priests to help-groups working with drug addicted and other involved persons.
