Metropolitan Kirill meets with the President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity Cardinal Walter Kasper

On 5 July 2006, Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad met with the President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity Cardinal Walter Kasper who led the Roman Catholic Church delegation at the World Summit of Religious Leaders in Moscow.

They discussed different aspect of relations between the Russian Orthodox and the Roman Catholic Churches and underscored a common task of defending Christian values in the world of today and, consequently, the need in the soonest resolution of the yet unresolved problems.

The meeting took place on the premises of the Holy See Representation in the Russian Federation. After the meeting, a reception was given in honour of the Roman Catholic Church delegation that participated in the religious summit in Moscow.
