Orthodox Churches in Kosovo vandalized

The church of the Nativity of the Mother of God in the town of Obilic in Kosovo was vandalized, Bishop Artemije, administrator of the Diocese of Raska and Prizren of the Serbian Orthodox Church, said. He considers this act of vandalism another attempt of Albanians to eradicate the Orthodox culture in the region.

The vandals have taken down four crosses the church dome, damaged the roof and smashed windows.

‘This act of vandalism perpetrated by Albanians shows that extremists decided to completely eradicate everything that is Serbian in Kosovo,’ the Bishop said. He also noted that Albanians destroyed no less than 150 Orthodox churches even after the international peace forces had been brought to Kosovo in 1999.

Police investigates the incident, but could not trace the criminals, ‘Interfax’ reports quoting the Serbian mass media.
