Museum of history of Christianity in Central Asia to be opened in Tashkent

A museum of the history of Christianity in Central Russia will be set up in the Uzbek capital. Local authorities have already allocated a plot of land for the construction to be begun in the nearest future. The museum will be located in the territory of the Religious and Administrative Center of the Russian Orthodox Metropolia of Tashkent and Central Asia.

The pro-rector of the Tashkent Seminary, Father Sergiy, in his talk with the Vek newspaper journalists, said that according to the Holy Tradition, the good news about Risen Christ was brought to Central Asia by St. Thomas.

The Orthodox diocese was founded in Central Asia 135 years ago. At present, the Metropoia of Tashkent and Central Asia has 106 parishes in Uzbekistan, Turkmenia, Kirgisia and Tajikistan.
