Representative of the Moscow Patriarchate meets Russian Deputy Foreign Minister in Strasbourg

On 14 June 2006, a representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Strasbourg hegumen Filaret (Bulekov) met with the Russian deputy foreign minister A. Grushko who supervises matters related to the European and Euro-Atlantic organizations.

They discussed the preparation for the international forum ‘Dialogue of cultures and interreligious cooperation’ to be held in Nizhniy Novgorod on 7-8 Septemebr 2006 in the framework of Russian chairmanship in the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers and a seminar on ‘Moral foundations and evolution of the notion of human rights in politically cultured society’ to be held in Strasbourg on 30 October 2006. Representatives of European religious organizations intend to take part in both events.

Hegumen Filaret informed A.Grushko about the steps being taken by the Russian Orthodox Church for the development of dialog with the international institutions in Strasbourg and with the Council of Europe in particular.
