The Orthodox Birch-Bark Craft Exhibition Opens in Prokopievsk, Kemerovo Region

The Orthodox Birch-Bark Craft Exhibition dedicated to 5th anniversary of a studio bearing the same name opened in Prokopievsk, Kemerovo Region, Diocese of Kemerovo’s press-service says.

The Orthodox Birch-Bark Craft was launched in the Yasnaya Poliana community club in 1999. It was led by Valery Ctrelnikov, the specialist in birch-bark decoration of icon-settings, and the icon painter Vladimir Raytsev. According to the craftsmen, the combination of iconography birch-bark craft strengthens human understanding of the nature in a Christian worldview context.
