A Federation Council delegation on a visit to Parish of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg, South Africa

On May 18, a Russian Federation Council delegation led by the Council’s deputy chair Ms. S. Orlova visited the Orthodox Parish of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The delegation has come to South Africa for an official visit in the framework of inter-parliamentary cooperation. The deputies have held working meetings with South African legislators and executives.

The delegation was taken on a tour of the church compound and the parish council building. The rector of the parish, Rev. Ioann Lapidus, told his high guests the story of this only Russian church to be found in Africa South of Sahara and introduced them to the social and cultural activities of the parish. Ms. Orlova signed the book for honorary guests. The visit was crowned with a traditional Russia tea party at the parish hall.
