Donations collected on the Day of the Dead in churches in Voronezh diocese will be given to dead servicemen’s families

By the decision of the Voronezh Diocesan Council, the money collected during commemoration services during the Day of the Dead in all the churches of the diocese will go to the fund of the regional public movement of families of servicemen who died in the time of peace. This decision was made in response to an appeal from the movement of widows and mothers of servicemen who died in service. It was addressed to the ruling bishop of the diocese of Voronezh, Metropolitan Sergiy, who is also chairman of the synodal department of the Russian Orthodox Church for charity and social service.

The letter signed by the diocesan administration secretary, Archimandrite Andrey Tarasov, and circulated to deans and abbots recommends that before the commemoration service, an announcement be made about the designated fund-raising to meet the needs faced by families of servicemen who died on duty, the Blagovest-Info news agency reports.
