Metropolitan Kirill meets with Bishop Basil of Zvornik and Tuzla, Serbian Orthodox Church

Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations, met on April 14, 2006, with Bishop Basil of Zvornik and Tuzla, Serbian Orthodox Church.

In a spirit of fraternal warmth and understanding, they discussed relations between the two Churches, the condition of Orthodoxy in the Balkans, especially in Bosnia-Herzegovina. They also considered inter-Orthodox, inter-confessional and inter-religious relations.

Bishop Basil thanked the Russian Orthodox Church for support she gives to the Orthodox Serbian people in building a peaceful life in the Balkans.

Participating in the meeting were also Archimandrite Anthony Pantelic, rector of the Serbian Church Representation in Moscow, and Archpriest Nikolay Balashov, DECR secretary for inter-Orthodox relations.
