Orthodox priest baptized a child at a Catholic orphanage

Rev. Igor Vyzhanov, DECR secretary for inter-Christian relations, baptized a baby on April 11, 2006, at the John Bosko Children’s Foster Center, a Catholic orphanage in Moscow. He was invited by the orphanage directors since the parents of the child were Orthodox. During the administration of the sacrament, the singing was performed by the choir of the Church of St. Olga Equal-to-the-Apostles at the Moscow Patriarchate Pilgrimage Center at Universitetskaya Hotel. Relations between this Orthodox parish and the orphanage, patronized by the Salecian Order, began to be established through the work of the Joint Working Group for considering problems in relations between the Roman Catholic and the Russian Orthodox Churches.
