Revival of the Korennoy Hermitage Monastery continues in the Kursk region

Kursk Governor Alexander Mikhailov has approved a plan for reviving the Korennoy (Root) Hermitage Monastery in 2006.

It will cost 48 million roubles to be allocated from various financing sources, the regional administration reported on April 6, 2006. A considerable part of the work is planned to be completed this April-May.

The plan also includes the repairing of the monastery’s engineer communications. The territory around the three springs will be put in order. It is also planned to build a road to the skete, a bridge across the Tuskar River and a new monastery wall. The Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos and the White Hotel will be reconstructed.

The Root Monastery is one of the spiritual centers in Russia. In the years of the Soviet power, the monastery was completely destroyed.
