Over 90% of the people in Moldova claim to be Orthodox

An overwhelming majority of the Moldavian population, namely 93,3%, claims to be Orthodox Christians. This follows from the 2004 census the results of which have been published by the National Statistics Office.

In Moldova, Baptists make up 1%, Seventh-Day Adventists 0,4%, Pentecostals 0,3%. Old Believers 0,3% and Evangelicals 0,15 %. A little over 1% confess other faiths.

The number of atheists and non-believers is 46 thousand or 1,4%. 75,5 thousand or 2.2% of the entire population in Moldova did not indicate their affiliation to any religion, the Regions.ru website has reported.
