A new bell called ‘Tsar Michel’ will be placed to the bell tower of the Ipatiev Monastery. It is a present of Prince Michel of Kent to the Kostroma Diocese.

The prince visited Kostroma in October 2005. The guest was amazed by the skills of Kostroma bell-ringers and decided to make such a present. The 8ton bell is being made in the town of Tutaev, the Yaroslavl Region. One of the best bell workshops in Russia is situated there. The masters will work on it more than two months.

Kostroma television reports that the grantor wished to name the bell after the first tsar in the Romanov dynasty Mikhail Feodorovich.

It will be the 12th bell in the Ipatiev bell tower and it is planned to set it up on May 2. Prince Michel of Kent will be invited to the ceremony.
