Building up at sites where the churches were once situated is to be prohibited in Volgograd

On 9 March, Metropolitan Herman of Volgograd and Kamyshin met with leaders and heads of committees and commission of the City Duma of Volgograd. Metropolitan Herman urged the deputies to restore historical and cultural look of the city and return to the traditional way of life.

Diocesan architect Elena Stiazhkova made a report on the location of churches in pre-revolutionary Tsaritsyno. Chairman of the City Duma Pavel Karev promised that this information would be considered when working out a general plan of city’s development, and sites where the churches were once situated would be reserved for their possible reconstruction, website of the Volgograd Diocese reports.
