DECR MP Chairman meets with Old-Rite Metropolitan Kornily of Moscow and All Russia

On 3 March 2006, Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, met with the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Old Rite headed by its new primate old-rite Metropolitan Kornily of Moscow and All Russia, who was elected on 18 October 2005 after the decease of late Metropolitan Andrian.

The meeting was held in the atmosphere of mutual trust. Its participants agree that today there exist many spheres of church and social life calling for joint efforts.

The participants discussed the cooperation between the believers of the Old Rite and DECR MP Commission on old-rite parishes and cooperation with old-rite believers.

Metropolitan Kornily was accompanied by Archpriest Evgeny Chunin, Chancellor of the Old-Rite Moscow Metropolia, Protodeacon Viktor Saveliev, the Metropolitan’s personal secretary, and A. Antonov, head of the Information and Publishing Department of the Metropolia. Among the DECR MP participants were Deacon Ioann Mirolubov, secretary of the Commission on old-rite parishes and cooperation with old-rite believers, and D. Petrovsky, DECR MP staff member.
