Believers from the Polish Orthodox Church visit shrines of Kaliningrad

A delegation of the Orthodox believers came to Kaliningrad from neighboring Poland. Orthodox Poles made a pilgrimage to the churches and monasteries of the region. They visited churches in Gusev and Cherniakhovsk and convent of St. Elizabeth.

On 2 March, the group of pilgrims visited the center of religious literature at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, diocesan administration, and the Monastery of St. Nicholas. They also met with Bishop Seraphim of Baltijsk.

Bishop Seraphim told the guests about the revival of Orthodoxy in the most Western region of Russia, about history and construction of the main diocesan church – the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the process of introduction of the Foundations of Orthodox culture in regional school program. The guests responded that God’s Law is in the timetable of all state schools in Poland as a compulsory part of state educational program. Orthodox priest with pedagogical education teach the subject.

Guests from Poland visited the Cathedral of the Elevation of the Cross in Kaliningrad and churches of the Baltic coast.

It is the third pilgrimage tour of Orthodox citizens of Poland to Kaliningrad region. It was organized by the Polish Orthodox brotherhood.
