DECR Chairman participates in the 1st session of Organizational Committee for preparation and insurance of Russia’s participation in the G8

On 30 January 2006, Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, participated in the first session of the Organizational Committee for preparation and insurance of Russia’s participation in the G8 in May-November 2006. The program of actions in the frameworks of the Russia’s chairmanship was discussed at the session chaired by V. Surkov, Deputy Chairman of Presidential Administration.

In his address, Metropolitan Kirill said that the Russian Orthodox Church was ready to participate in organization of a certain number of actions included in the program. Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, DECR MP Deputy Chairman, also took part in the session.
